The firm has relocated from Water Lane in Wilmslow to One London Road, Alderley Edge.
Hilary Meredith Solicitors is renowned for its work representing armed forces service personnel, veterans and their families.
Led by multi-award-winning solicitor, Hilary Meredith-Beckham, Hilary Meredith Solicitors has acted in thousands of cases worldwide on behalf of service personnel, veterans and their families - from conflict zones to accident and death in service claims on manoeuvres, wherever the British Armed Forces operate. Settlements include £10 million for 3 soldiers who suffered severe injuries after their Pinzgauer troop carrier hit IEDs and £7.2 million for a navy pilot who suffered life changing injuries. The firm has also secured millions of pounds for service personnel, veterans and their families through the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.
Hilary Meredith Solicitors also acts for members of the public who have suffered life-changing injuries. Settlements secured by Director Dianne Yates and her team include £19.5 million for an adult who suffered life changing, catastrophic, brain injury and £12.1 million for a child who sustained life threatening and life changing injuries in a road traffic accident. In a new development, the firm recently launched a pensions advice and mis-selling department headed by Andrew Purcell.
In 1987 Hilary Meredith-Beckham represented the first claim ever on behalf of a widow whose husband had died on manoeuvres in Canada (Green v MoD). Hilary has had success in the US courts on behalf of the British military, winning an appeal to the US 11th circuit in Whitley and Others v US Government. Other cases of note include Sharpe v MoD and Birch v MoD in the Court of Appeal.
During her 37-year legal career, Hilary has acted in a range of precedent setting cases, worked closely with Parliamentary Inquiries and Government Ministers and successfully campaigned for changes in the law. She provided evidence to the Select Defence Committee on the Iraq historic abuse cases, which ultimately contributed to the closure of the Iraq Historic Allegations Team. Hilary gave evidence at the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Brecon Beacon fatalities, Beyond Endurance, recommending that the MoD should be subject to the Corporate Manslaughter Act where there has been a reckless disregard for life - a recommendation which the Inquiry upheld.
Commenting on the firm's move to Alderley Edge, Hilary, who established Hilary Meredith Solicitors in 2003 and last week became the first ever solicitor to win the Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year award three times, said:
"Our new offices in Alderley Edge offer the best of both worlds.
"While remote working is now very much the norm, One London Road provides a modern base with unrivalled high-level amenities.
"The office is situated at the heart of Alderley Edge, with the train station on our doorstep.
"We are excited to move to our new offices and look forward to becoming an integral part of the Alderley Edge community."
Relocating an award-winning law firm reminds me of the strategic planning needed for moving or obtaining a swiss residence. Ensuring compliance and understanding the local requirements are essential for success. It’s impressive to see how preparation can make transitions smoother, whether for a business or personal life in Switzerland.
