Reform of bereavement damages

Hilary Meredith Solicitors fully supports APIL’s campaign for reform of the law on bereavement damages.

The law remains largely unchanged since it was enacted 40 years ago and is out of touch. There has been the inclusion of some cohabiting unmarried partners, but eligibility remains alarmingly narrow.

Bereavement damages is a key campaign issue for APIL – and we support their efforts to highlight it with parliamentarians and the public alike. Reform is long overdue.

As part of the campaign on bereavement damages, APIL has produced a short film with Sabiha, who lost her father to clinical negligence and was not eligible for statutory bereavement damages despite their loving relationship.
