An Army investigation has found that a female teenage soldier is believed to have taken her own life after relentless sexual harassment by one of her bosses.
Royal Artillery Gunner Jaysley Beck, 19, was found dead at Larkhill Camp in Wiltshire in December 2021.
A service inquiry report describes "an intense period of unwelcome behaviour", adding that “it is almost certain this was a causal factor in her death”.
Two years ago, a report by MPs found women in the armed forces who are victims of harassment and serious sexual assault - among other acts - were being "denied justice" by a "woefully inadequate" military complaints process.
Hilary Meredith Solicitors are shocked and saddened by yet another example of the ongoing harassment, abuse and assaults faced by female serving members of the armed forces.
As we approach 2024 the time for this to stop is NOW and for those in the MoD who have allowed or permitted this culture to be held accountable.
Hilary Meredith Solicitors are experts in representing victims of assault and serious sexual assault in the armed forces and deal with all enquiries on a confidential basis with female solicitors and legal staff able to advise and assist where preferred.
